The Juliano Varela Association was created on January 28, 1994, with the objective of promoting programs for the full development of people with Down Syndrome through social and educational inclusion actions, becoming a non-profit institution and maintaining resources from financial transfer agreements with federal, state and municipal public authorities, in addition to donations from individuals and legal entities that help maintain the school. The board of the Association is formed by parents and friends of the people with Down Syndrome, following the precepts of the founding members.
To achieve its goal of preparing these people to be included in society through the development of their skills, Juliano Varela offers family care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology and social assistance. Those assisted have their creative thinking, communication, logical reasoning, cognitive aspect and socio-emotional skills stimulated.
